Bowling Green Falcons vs. Troy Trojans
Last season Troy opened its schedule on the road against Bowling Green. The Trojans lost the first-ever meeting between the two schools, 31-14, but now they are looking for revenge in this year’s opener when the Falcons invade Movie Gallery Stadium on Saturday to take on the Trojans. Dave Clawson begins his second season at the helm for Bowling Green this weekend, and he will try to lead BGSU to an even higher level of success in 2010. In his first year at BGSU Clawson led the Falcons to a seven win season and a trip to the Humanitarian Bowl. More importantly the Falcons finished with an impressive 6-2 ledger in league action.
As for the Trojans, they continued their dominance in the Sun Belt Conference last year by claiming their fourth consecutive league title. Troy finished with a flawless 8-0 league mark and captured its first nine-win campaign since joining the FBS. With the new season on the horizon coach Larry Blakeney is looking for similar success in his 19th season at Troy.
The Falcons relied heavily on their passing attack last season, and the combination of Tyler Sheehan and Freddie Barnes was sensational. However, both players are gone, leaving coach Clawson with a young and inexperienced offensive unit heading into this new season. This will clearly play a facter in today’s release as we expect the Falcons to really struggle to move the ball.
