Terrell Owens Signs with Bengals
Terrell Owens can still make headlines. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on July 27 and it easily makes the Bengals a better team with Owens. I would love to cover the Cincinnati Bengals beat report this season. They have Chad Ochocinco and Owens in the same receiving corps. If they don’t win, watch the fireworks and sound bits. The player that really facilitated the process, Carson Palmer now has Ochocinco, Owens and Antonio Bryant to throw to on third down. Ochocinco tweeted the Bengals should be on pay-per-view next season because of the showcase next season.
Palmer worked out with Owens in California just last week, so it was expected a deal would get down soon enough. Bryant struggled in off season workouts which helped the Bengals to bring in Owens. The question remains, how much does Owens have left? Not much by some standards. He had a poor year with the Buffalo Bills last season, he even was on his best behavior. The main problem was the fact that Trent Edwards was the quarterback for the Bills last season. Palmer is a lot better. Ochocinco saw a lot of double teams last season, which won’t happen with Owens on the other side and Bryant in the slot position.
The Bengals are hoping to get a lot out of Owens. He’ll help them get to the playoffs, but don’t expect him to lead the team in receiving or put up phenomenal numbers. He’ll take pressure off Ochocinco along with opening up a few running holes for Cedric Benson. The team was the best when they had two elite receivers. Owens will be consistent and could put up some great players with Palmer throwing him the football. It’s a good time to be a Bengals fan. They will be a better team, the press days, press conferences will be spectacle events for the 2010 Cincinnati Bengals.
