Brett Favre will need ankle surgery to return

UPDATE: According to ESPN, Brett Favre will require ankle surgery in order to return next season with the Minnesota Vikings. 

FANTASY IMPACT:  In an email sent to Ed Werner of ESPN, Brett states that "This decision would be easy if not for my teammates and the fans and the entire Vikings staff. One year truly felt like 10 – much like Green Bay for many years. That's what I was missing in my heart I suppose, a sense of belonging." Favre would be 41 if he decides to return, and it would be his 20th season in the NFL.  The Vikings didn't go after any QBs this offseason, so whether they knew about this or not- I don't know. The statements released do sound like a bunch of good-byes, or another Brett Favre one-two switch. Brett Favre returning is completely up in the air now, unlike it has been all summer.
